If like me you are finding February a grey, grizzly month, its time to pull in some tropical power. Air miles aside, I find pineapple one of the best ingredients to use in my smoothies. There is no pleasure in making your smoothie so green it’s a chore to drink, being healthy is also about being happy - so put some tropical zing into your body with this easy recipe.
Recipe:
1 handful of kale or spinach
1 handful of fresh mint (if you have it, pop some dried mint in otherwise)
1 banana
1 cup of chopped pineapple
½ lime – juiced
½ inch of ginger
a glug of coconut water
1 cup of water
1 cup of ice
This powerhouse of a drink will give you 2 servings.
Nutritional Notes: Pineapple and ginger boost digestion and fight inflammation. Banana has high levels of potassium and fiber. The green stuff – well its just brilliant on so many levels, so keep in it there.
